Day 1 : Chennai
You will be met and assisted at the airport or railway station on arrival in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, by our company's representatives.
They will help you transfer to your hotel and check in. You can relax for the day and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 : Chennai - Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram
After breakfast we travel from Chennai to Mahabalipuram, in Tamil Nadu, India, by road.
The distance of approximately 58 km, is covered in around 1 hour. On arrival, proceed for a sight seeing tour of Mahabalipuram. See the rock cut temples shaped like pagodas, cave sanctuaries, famous sculptures and the Shore Temple.
Visit Kanchipuram, famous for the Kailashnatha Temple and traditional silk weaving. It is the ancient capital of the Pallavas, known as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines.
Return to Chennai and stay overnight at the hotel in Chennai.
Day 3 : Chennai - Madurai
After breakfast proceed for the city tour of Chennai. Visit Marina Beach, memorials and the Museum to see the Art and Bronze Gallery. Late evening transfer to the railway-station for the overnight journey to Madurai.
Day 4 : Madurai
Morning arrive in Madurai and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon tour the magnificent Meenakshi Temple dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva. Visit the Meenakshi Temple in the evening for the Grand Aarti. Overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 5 : Madurai - Periyar
After breakfast we travel from Madurai to Periyar, in Kerala, India, by road.
The distance of 180 km, is covered in around 4 hours. Periyar National Park extends to 777 square km and forms part of the high mountain ranges, the Western Ghats. Enjoy a boat ride in the Periyar Lake. Visit Kumily Spice Market in the evening. Spend the night at a resort in Thekkady.
Day 6 : Thekkady - Trivandrum
After breakfast we travel from Periyar to Trivandrum, in Kerala, India, by road.
The distance of 200 km, is covered in around 4 hours. After breakfast, drive to Trivandrum viewing the scenic beauty en-route. Kerala is a lush green land alongside the sea. Reach Trivandrum, check into the hotel and relax.
Day 7 : Trivandrum
After breakfast, the day will be free to tour Trivandrum or optional tours to Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari - the southern most part of India) or nearby places like Kovalam beach, etc.
Day 8 : Trivandrum - Cochin
After breakfast we travel from Trivandrum to Cochin, in Kerala, India, by road.
The distance of 260 km, is covered in around 6 hours. You can see scenic villages along the route. The eventful history of Cochin began when a major flood in AD 1341 threw open the estuary at Kochi, till then a land locked region, turning it into one of the finest natural harbours in the world. Enjoy a sunset cruise in Cochin harbour and later proceed for a Kathakali Dance Performance. Overnight will be at hotel in Cochin.
Day 9 : Cochin - Bangalore
After breakfast proceed for city tour of Cochin. One of the finest natural harbors on the Arabian Sea coast, Kochi, earlier known as Cochin, has been a port of call for foreign traders from early times. Checkout will be at 1200 hrs. Transfer to the railway station for the overnight journey to Bangalore.
Day 10 : Bangalore
Morning arrive in Bangalore and transfer to the hotel, followed by breakfast. Enjoy sightseeing of Bangalore. See the Lalbagh Gardens, Maharajas's Palace, Vidhan Soudha and the busy markets of Bangalore. Return to the hotel to stay overnight.
Day 11 : Bangalore - Mysore
After breakfast we travel from Bangalore to Mysore, in Karnataka, India, by road.
The distance of approximately 140 km is covered in around 3 hours. Enroute see Seringpatnam, where the fort of Tipu Sultan still stands. Check into the hotel in Mysore for an overnight stay.
Day 12 : Mysore
After breakfast go on a sightseeing tour. See the Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hill, Art Galleries and Devraj Urs market in Mysore.
Day 13 : Mysore - Chennai
Enjoy your breakfast and go shopping and sightseeing in Mysore. Mysore is famous for silk snd sandalwood products. Transfer to the railway station to catch the train for Chennai (Madras).
Day 14 : Chennai / Onward destination
Transfer to the airport for your onward destination, at the end of your South India Tour by Rail.

1. One night in Chennai can be reduced and a night on a houseboat in the KERALA BACKWATERS can be added.
